The scientific journal "Old Believer" is thematically focused on the study of various aspects of the history of the formation, development and current position of the Old Believers as a phenomenon and phenomenon in history.

The journal studies the issues of the theological thought of the Old Believers, interfaith relations, interaction with the state; issues of art, architecture, music and personalities of the Old Believers in Russia and the world are considered.

The journal publishes research on the formation and development of the Old Believers in the light of the latest challenges associated with the transformation of the Christian presence in the world. The journal is interested in publishing scientific research, regardless of the confessional and religious affiliation of the author. The journal does not allocate the value of articles based on the author's statement about belonging to the Christian religion or the Old Believers or sympathy for them.

Researches are published devoted to the study of modern Old Believers in the world, analysis of the situation of Old Believer churches, communities of believers, Old Believer religious missions; explores the relationship between the Old Believer Christian churches, as well as their relationship with Islam, Judaism and other religions.

The issues of theological and ecclesiastical-practical nature that influenced the position and development of the Old Believers in the world in the past and at the present stage are considered. The subjects of the persecution of the Old Believers, the growth or decrease in the number of believers, the relationship of the Old Believers with other Christian denominations, with the government of the host country, the participation of the Old Believers in the political and cultural processes of society are being studied.

We study the biographical information of authoritative Old Believer theologians, representatives of the church and confessional hierarchy, ordinary believers who had one or another influence on the Old Believers. Materials are published reflecting the history and current state of the holy places of the Old Believers, visiting them, traveling to them, pilgrimages.

Published research on the history of the formation, distribution, development and persecution of the Old Believers in various countries.

Of no small importance is the publication of studies related to the study of the origin of the Old Believers in the world, the history of the spread of the Old Believers in Moscow Rus', the Russian Empire, the USSR, Ukraine, Belarus, the USA, Canada, in the states of Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Australia.

The issues of the formation of theological tendencies in the Old Believers, theological disputes, heresies are investigated; the relationship of the Old Believers and the hierarchy with state power, the local population, with representatives of heretical and coreligion communities.

Reviews of books devoted to the Old Believers, published not earlier than one year before the day the manuscript was received by the editors, are published.

Surveys about the held conferences, round tables, presentations, forums, thematic meetings.

It is possible to publish author's translations or extracts from previously published collections or books about the Old Believers, which have become a notable event in the national or international scientific space.
